November 4/17 – Race 3: Okotoks

Hi All.  Well the weather is finally starting to turn a bit and we have our third race this weekend. Crisp fall running! Who’s in?  I know Henry is pumped; I am going to run this one with him.

Details

• Time: 11:45 am
• Race Location: Cross country running course starts near the Okotoks Recreation Centre, 99 Okotoks Drive.
• Registration:  Register race day between 10:45 & 11:30 am at the south end of the Okotoks Recreation Centre.  I would like to be there by 11:15. am.

It is about a 35-minute drive from my place. I would prefer to be on the road by 10:30, perhaps a little earlier if the roads are bad.

Try to fill in your registration forms in advance.  Kids entry fee for the 4 km race is $6.00.

Please pack a desert or soup for the post-race fun.  Pack some additional warm clothes for after also.

Confederation Park XC Relay - October 15

Ok … This one is a bit different. First it is this Sunday, second registration is for the whole team. As such, I need to have each kid registered in advance. It should be some great crisp fall running.  Bring a change of shoes!

Teams

Merry Pranksters Girls: Tessa, Pippa, Ella or a Mom

Merry Pranksters Boys: Ben, Alexander and Henry

Merry Pranksters Seasoned: (this is team may not be entered pending Girls): Steve, Jenn and Tiffany 

Kids registration is $6, adults $12 ($8 for CRR Members). We will fill out the team forms at my garage.

Location

Confederation Park

Rosemont Hall 2807 10 St NW, Calgary

The race starts at 12:00 pm but we need to be there by 11:00 am to get registered properly. Let’s depart from my garage at 10:30 am, so be a bit early.

Post Race

At Rosemont Hall, bring a bowl and spoon. Tessa is making Hamburger Soup.

October 7th Running and Confederation Park Relay

A quick update

The kids that ran last weekend all rocked the course. Well done. I was really impressed with the effort that they all showed and the enthusiasm for the next race over lunch.  All the kids talked about going in the next race! The Confederation Park Relay teams should be ‘pre-registered’.  Can I suggest the following teams:

• Team 1: Tessa, Pippa, ____
• Team 2: Ben, Alexander, Henry

If anyone else want to run, I’ll help form a team.  Send a reply to me indicating that you want to go on a team.

• Team 3: Steve, ___, ____

I will handle the pre-registration with Calgary Road Runners and will do so this weekend. I will send out other information on registration next week.

I am not sure if we have any new kids joining, but if we do, see the first post.  For October 7^th, Running:

• -          Depart Steve’s garage at 9:00 am
• -          Let me know if you are joining.
• -          Weaslehead flats course.

River Park Classic - Sept 30th, 2017

Hey fall runners!

Are you pumped up yet? You will be soon!  This weekend is the first of the Calgary Road Runners Cross Country races!  The first of these is in River Park, practically in our back yard. 

Details:

You need to download and print the registration FORM. The form contains a lot of useful information about the series including:

• Registration – in person from 10:45 to 11:30. Fee is $12 or fee for the 1km.

• Race time -  12:00.

• I would recommend the kids go in the 4KM event They are ready!  There is also a 1Km race for kids 12 and under.

• The race starts by the picnic area.

• Expect to get wet. Pack a change of clothes.

After the race:

• Social function at South Calgary Community Halll.
• Bring a bowl and spoon; there will be really good soup (this is why Henry is doing this).

Please let me know ASAP if your child will be running. Parents are welcome to join.  We should definitely car pool as parking can be limited at the race site and we need to move over to the Community Hall for the food (other races in this series have simpler logistics).
